The Area Officers of Area 33 serve a two-year term beginning in January of odd-numbered years, with elections held the previous October using the Third Legacy Procedure described in the Guidelines and in The AA Service Manual.
Area Officers work together to coordinate Area 33’s business, facilitate communication between the General Service Conference (GSC), Districts, and Groups, and support AA’s 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts of Service.
Officers are expected to stay engaged and maintain regular communication to ensure the smooth operation of Area 33. Area Officers are expected to have regular access to and a working knowledge of a computer and the internet, including the use of email, shared electronic documents, virtual meeting platforms, and other technology reasonably necessary to fulfill their duties. If an officer is unable to continue serving, the Area Chair will initiate a replacement process.
