The Corrections Committee coordinates with correctional facilities to bring AA meetings into prisons and jails. Committee members work to meet clearance requirements for volunteers and help alcoholics prepare for sober lives in recovery after release. They coordinate mail correspondence, establish AA contacts or temporary sponsors, and collect AA literature for persons in custody. The committee also educates law enforcement and correctional facility staff about the AA program and its purpose.
The committee chair attends the quarterly Statewide Correctional Facilities Committee meetings in Lansing.
