The March Roundup Committee organizes the annual March Roundup (MRU) Convention, which brings together AA, Al-Anon, and Alateen members to share their experience, strength, and hope, along with a variety of fellowship activities. All proceeds from the event remain within Area 33 to support its functions, including covering the delegate’s expenses to the General Service Conference and funding committee work throughout the year.
The committee oversees program development, logistics, and volunteer coordination. The committee meets monthly prior to the Area 33 business meeting, with additional virtual meetings and site walk-throughs scheduled as needed.
Unlike other committee chairs, the March Roundup Convention Committee chairperson serves a one year term beginning in April of each year, typically after having served the previous year as co-chairperson. As such, the MRU co-chairperson is elected each year at the next Area Assembly following the March Roundup Convention, and is expected to serve 1 year as co-chair, and the following year as chairperson. If it becomes necessary to deviate from this succession plan, a special election may be held when needed.
