Area 33 Standing Committees help carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the still-suffering alcoholic in focused and meaningful ways. Descriptions of each committee’s work are provided below.
Each committee is led by an elected Chair who serves a two-year term starting in January of even-numbered years, with the exception of the March Roundup Convention Committee. Elections are held the previous October, using the Third Legacy Procedure described in these Guidelines and in The AA Service Manual.
Committee chairs are responsible to see that their committee is represented at all Area Assembly meetings. A written report should be submitted monthly for inclusion in the Area minutes. Absences should be communicated to the Area 33 Chair. Because this important work is part of our primary purpose, failure to ensure adequate representation of your committee may result in a special election to choose a new committee chair.
Committees meet regularly to plan and carry out their work. Members are encouraged to stay engaged, maintain communication, and actively participate to ensure the committee fulfills its purpose effectively.
